Host and Executive Producer

Tommy Morris is a sports broadcaster and television producer based in Southern California. He has done everything from play-by-play, to hosting studio shows, production, editing, writing, and reporting. Most recently he was the executive producer for Stable Wars which aired on three Fox Sports regional networks and won a local Emmy in its second season. Tommy has also worked as a field producer and reporter for KUSI’s sports department and its hit show “The Prep Pigskin Report.” Before that Tommy was the director of live events and affiliate relations at WealthTV and appeared on some of WealthTV’s “Fight Night” boxing broadcasts. Tommy graduated from the University of Southern California Marshall Business School with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He also earned a minor in Sports Media Studies at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. During his time at USC Tommy was a play-by-play announcer and color color commentator for USC football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball on KXSC and He also co-hosted and produced a sports radio show “Unsportsmanlike Conduct” on KXSC, as well as co-hosting and producing “Sportsmanlike Conduct,” a sports debate television show on TrojanVision. He has interned at KCAL/KCBS Sports in Los Angeles, XX1090 Sports Radio Station in San Diego, and for the San Diego Chargers. In high school at La Jolla Country Day School (La Jolla, CA) Tommy was First-Team All-Pacific League as a wide receiver and also returned punts and kicks for the Torreys. On the baseball diamond he was a two year varsity starter in left field.

Christian Pedersen

San Diego Section Host & Director of Digital Content

Born and raised in San Diego Christian has been with San Diego Prep Insider since 2015. He graduated from the University of California Los Angeles where he got his first experience in sports broadcasting as the host of UCLA radio’s baseball talk show for 3 years. After UCLA Christian received a Masters in Broadcasting and Digital Journalism with a Sports Emphasis from Syracuse University. While at Syracuse he worked as a sports producer and on air host for Citrus TV, as well as a beat writer covering minor league baseball and hockey. Before coming to SDPI Christian worked as season with the Prep Pigskin Report as a field producer.  

As a part of San Diego Prep Insider Christian has worked as the nighty highlight host as well as producer for several of the podcasts on the SDPI network. Katie Austin

Los Angeles & Southern Section Host

Katie Austin is a fitness personality and TV host. 

Katie graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2016, with a degree in Communications and a minor in TV production. At USC, she played Division I lacrosse and was the host of Platform sports on Trojan Vision for 2 years. 

She is a certified fitness trainer and health coach, and has been featured on numerous television shows, including The Today Show, Hollywood Today Live, The Doctors, and Home & Family.

As part of the SCPI team Katie covers football, basketball and baseball in the CIF Los Angeles and Southern section.

Connor Morrissette

Los Angeles Section Producer & Digital Host 

A recent graduate of the Syracuse Newhouse school of journalism Connor is new to the SCPI team. He has produced, hosted and covered a variety of sports segments and shows as well as done play by play. As part of the SCPI team he is your go to man for all things Los Angeles high school sports. He hosts podcasts, produces nightly highlights, and is always on the hunt for the best student section in LA.

Braden Surprenant

San Diego Section Beat Reporter 

Braden is new to the SCPI team but not new to San Diego high school sports. Growing up on many sidelines across San Diego County, he developed a passion for prep sports in San Diego. 

His passion for sports led him to Fort Worth, TX where he majored in Sports Broadcasting and minored in Business at Texas Christian University. At TCU, Braden directed and produced live sporting events for Fox Sports Southwest as well as perform every job in the TV truck. He was also worked for TCU’s football team, where he was the Horned Frog’s main videographer for the coaching staff the past two seasons. 

Not only did he preform behind the scenes, Braden was also very involved on the air as well. He was the voice of TCU Volleyball as well as Saginaw High School football, and also had many sports podcasts and radio shows during his time in collage. 

Braden brings his football, volleyball and general sports knowledge and passion to the San Diego section and is excited to be part of the SCPI crew.

Beverly Pham 

Southern Section Beat Reporter 

Beverly Pham is a reporter for SCPI covering all things CIF Southern Section sports. A Huntington Beach native, she is your go-to source for the world of high school sports in Orange County and the Inland Empire.

Beverly is currently a senior at the University of Southern California majoring in Broadcast and Digital Journalism with minors in Sports Media Studies and Cinematic Arts. Previously, she interned with ESPNU, Los Angeles Daily News, the USC Athletics Department, and Snapchat.
